    Origin:Jeongju-eup was one of the biggest cities in the country in the 1950's, but had always had only one market, which opened in the 1920's. Clearly, there was a need to increase the size of marketplace, and thus the present fenced marketplace was created in 1958. People refer to Jeongeup Market 1 as the old market, and Jeongeup Market 2, the new market.
